Default WOO ... my salesman said Audi is downgrading its warranty for MY2006 models ... is it true ? ?

I find this very hard to beleive but I was talking to my Salesman today who sold me my 05 A6 4.2 and he told me Audi will no longer covers small items under warranty for 2006 models.

From what he described to me it sounds like a drivetrain only warranty but there is no way I could beleive he is correct.

Has any heard this ?

From what I understand they are giving you 6 months on wearables. But the rest of the warranty stays the same

Default What is wearables ? Are you referring to brakes & wiper blades ? My salesman said ...

that if for example an armrest was to get loose and break, they wouldn't cover it ...

I am hoping this info is not correct as I can't see taking away from customer satisfaction.

Current Audi USA website still seems to have language that suggests the previous "bumper to Bumper" warranty coverage on "2005 and 2006" models???.Don't see any change listed here . Such a deveation would hurt in my opinion !!--now when they are getting back to such good customer confidence and quality impressions?? Does not make sense..

Default Got this email from a local dealer

I didn't get my 3.2 @ this dealer but I'm still getting emails from them from when I was shopping around.

I just wanted to take this opportunity to update you. Today Audi released the news that after July 1st the free maintenance will not longer cover wear and tear items. That will mean that the brake pads, battery, wiper blades, and so on will not be covered pass one year or 12k miles. Your oil changes, filters, and services will still be covered. If you purchase your vehicle by the end of this month, all your wear and tear items will still be covered for the full four years or 50k miles. Please let me know what we can do to make something work for you this month.

If you any further questions I will be in on Thursday at 9am.

Thank you,

No that should be covered under a defect. More like Leather on the seats, wiper blades, brakes etc.

Default Not very smart marketing, IMO...

Just when the Audi image is really picking up speed, they go and yank the electronic parking brake. I wonder how much expenses they've incurred by covering W&T? Enough to cover the loss of confidence?

Just glad I have my 2005...

Default It will lose sales to BMW

This really seems dumb. Audi's main competition is BMW and BMW covers wearout items like brake pads and rotors.

Default BMW's suck, Audi's rock. Why do you buy a car?

You buy a car for the warranty? Hyundai anyone? Anyone buying Audi for a free brake job needs to look elsewhere. Please, give me a break!

Default I guess you didn't have as many rotors and pads...

replaced as we did on our 2001 A6 in 30,000 miles. I am glad that our 2005 A6 did not come with the downgraded warranty.

Now that there are so many more AWD cars available, such s the Infinity M35x, the Acura RL, and the Lexus GS300, and the Euro is so high, Audi may find that it will need to bring back their better warranty.
