A7 Cup Holders
Ok, have a 2013 A7 and I've become mystified why they put such crappy cup holders in the car. I mean, I know cup holders are not high on the priority list for German manufacturers, but the difficulty I experience in getting a cup or coffee mug seated in the holder is amazing.
Being the holder has the spring loaded fingers to hold the cup steady, is there a way to either remove the springs or make them smoother to simply slip a cup down? Is anyone else frustrated with this?
Given the tension on the spring loaded fingers, I'm concerned with popping the bottom out of a cup of soda trying to get it into the holder.
Comments anyone?

I agree with your comments and unfortunately don't know of a solution. Hopefully good suggestions will follow!

Don't try putting a styrofoam cup in there. When I did, the force from the spring tension put a hole in the cup...what a mess!
I drink my coffee using the slick looking Audi travel mug. It is made from metal. The only thing I trust in that spot.

I totally agree as well, my wife and I were just driving back on a long trip and she made the comment that I just needed to face the fact the cup holders were lousy. Not sure there is anything you can do other than be very careful and selective about what goes in there.
