I had the dealer install mine.
It took them 10 minutes. They didn't even charge me.
It was pretty straight forward.
Reached under the car and released 2 (I think it was 2) clips.
Removed the engine cowl, reached down and released 2 more clips.
The old filler came right out.
The new filler snapped right in (Maybe a little elbow grease, but not much)

I agree, took longer to wipe the finger prints off than install it!

That was my experience. My dealer comped my filler grille, and it took 10 minutes if that to install.

The one I bought had busted clips, returned it to Europa parts, and am waiting for my new one.

Crazy how something so subtle (like tint as well), can make the car look so much better!
