Just out of curiosity, how close is the Audi computer in it's mileage calculations compared to the handheld calculator?

The Audi Computer is a bit optimistic. It’s usually about 1 mpg higher than the actual.

As Kevin said, it is optimistic ....by my calculations, 5-10% higher over the past nearly 5 years...straight highway: incredible !!!

That's pretty close for the realm of optimistic.

Those percentages make things an eye opener when you double check the cars computer and you get the lower mileage figures than you were led to believe.

I'm pretty sure the answer to these questions is a NO....but is there any differences in fuel mileages between the A6 & A7?

With the differences in the roofline as well as the rear end contours does it make handling any different?

When the automatic rear spoiler pops up, the mpg really climbs!

The EPA MPG numbers are identical for both models.

I realize what Audi states about the two mileages being the same...I just wondering if any owners were experiencing anything different.

UPDATE.....
Looks like my wife has expressed her liking of the SUVs, so I guess the A7 is pretty much out of the future car thing.
Guess if the Q5 seems to small it'll have to be a VW Touareg.
The Q7 is to big for our needs and wants.

Chiming in with info on my 2014 A7 TDI:

Best tank 37.7 mpg (hand calculated). Avg 30.7 as I enjoy all 430tq often, not babying it just for MPG. It's a great balance of both! Other green datapoints are two Q5 TDIs. We also began moving in late 2015, driving further, so MPG went up a bit there as noted in Q5s.

zoomed in:

Best tank at 701 miles:

Mine was about 5% optimistic in MPG, so I adjusted it with VAG-COM and found 106 setting got me spot on (On average. Every tank will vary):
