Default Advice Needed

I have a couple of issues I cannot figure out & could use some advice;

1) When I use my key the car seat moves to my memory settings but when my wife uses her key it does not move to her memory setting & for the life of me, I cannot figure out why? Any thoughts on where I'm going wrong?

2)In setting easy entry/exit, I would assume at least the steering wheel would move in & up, yet it is not doing anything, what am I doing wrong here?

3) When moving forward to enter my garage or a parking space I either have to press the parking assist button or put car in reverse to engage parking assist. This should be automatic, am I missing something or is that just the way it is?

4) Is the electronic parking brake automatic? If I read the manual correctly it is, you set the brake & when pressing the accelerator it disengages but when I ask the dealer they say it is NOT automatic & I should only engage it when needed such as parking on a hill. Which is it?

Your thoughts would be most welcomed!

Somewhere in the MMI under Car Settings there is something called 'Key Memory' try and find that and enable it and it should do this.

Have you definitely got electric steering column adjust? I do not so cannot comment.

This is is the way it is. Think about it, you do not want the front sensors pinging all the time in traffic etc.

It should disengage automatically as you describe but ONLY if you have the seat belt on.

Thanks for the reply & I'll bet your right about my wife's setting. She is so short/small compared to me, I cannot sit in her seat. I'll double check to see if I failed to set this when she was in her seat.

As for the parking assist, my Lexus was auto & in traffic was no problem. But I get it, I'll just have to engage it when needed.

Yes, I have electric steering wheel settings.

Do others keep the parking brake set or is it typically ignored except when needed?

On the Parking Brake I ignore it other than when I really am parking and just turn on 'Hold Assist' for general driving

I don't use the parking brake routinely, just when I think it's really needed. I have noticed that if I'm backing into a parking spot and open my driver's door to see where the painted lines are, the parking brake engages and does not disengage unless I close the door or disengage it myself.

In mine, the steering wheel, the mirror settings and the the seat positions are saved independently to each key and the seat memory buttons in the driver door. You have to find the setting to enable this, I remember it took me a while to figure it out when I got the car.

"2)In setting easy entry/exit, I would assume at least the steering wheel would move in & up, yet it is not doing anything, what am I doing wrong here?"

The steering wheel moves up as soon as I open the driver door after shutting the engine off. It must be one of the settings, as long as you do have the electric steering wheel installed in your car.

Thanks for the help from you guys. I had my wife start the car with her settings & while in the passenger seat I turned on her remote key (which WAS turned off). It still didn't work, then I got to thinking about it & had her re-set her memory seat and that got it working.

Interesting comments about using the "automatic" parking brake. It was something I "set & forgot" on my Lexus. Sounds like I can do here as well (as long as I don't open the door while driving ). I'll play with it some I think.

As for the easy entry/exit, it does work but the way I had my seat/wheel set there just wasn't much movement left for it to move. I've re-set my seat/wheel so it has more room to move out of the way for me..duh! I'm smart....just a little slow

Thanks again for everyone's help.

I believe everything you mentioned except parking assist is buried inside MMI. Parking assist is only automatic if you put the car in reverse...

On my BMW there was a setting to have the right side mirror angle down when in reverse so you could more easily see the curb. Does anyone know if Audi has the same?

Yes. Turn the **** on the door to the right at 2'o clock for the right mirror tilting. Turn the **** to the left for the left mirror. Turning the **** to the 6'o clock raises both mirrors up.
