AMI cable that supports iPod video, cover art etc.
I was I'm Germany recently and I sat in an A7 that had iPod video and cover art. Apparently, there's a new AMI cable that has some kind of chip in it that allow for above function. I looked at the German Audi website and they have an adapter cable set "plus". Here's the description:
Adapterkabelset plus für Audi music interface
bestehend aus 2 Verbindungskabeln zur Anbindung von iPod/iPhone oder Datenträger/Medienplayer mit USB-Anschluss (Typ A); weitere Adapterkabel über Audi Original Zubehör erhältlich; unterstützt die Darstellung von CoverArts, Videofunktionen usw.; abhängig vom verwendeten iPod; nur nutzbar in Verbindung mit neuer iPod-Generationen
It basically translated to my description above. The cable has a red grommets where as the one in my car has a blue one.
Has anybody tried if the new cable works with the US A7. thinking about getting one and testing it out.

Even though it wasn't exactly what you asked for, I can tell, that it works flawlessly with a European 2012 model. Just in case there are some other European lurkers in here that wondered
Notice, though, that only the newest iPods are supported by this specific cable. I was a little disappointed to find, that my 2½ year old iPod Classic 80GB (6th generation) wasn't supported.

Minor correction: The newest iPod/iPhone/iPads are supported.
I find it especially cool that the iPad is supported. It makes it so much easier for us to bring it along on longer rides, for the kids to watch video, because we can charge it in the car as we drive.

Cool!
adenna, do you have any part# so I can order it from my dealer?
Also have you heard anything about an AMI-adapter that allows you to stream music via Bluetooth? I read something about that a while ago and it said that Audi would release that pretty soon.

Yes.
And don't know if it's EU only, but now you're mentioning it, I think that Bluetooth was an option... so it may be something they left out for the US. Weird, though, if they did, since it should really be a minor thing to include.
