Apple Carplay on 2016 models
Hi guys,
I created a similar message on RS7 board, but since the electronics should be the same I'm adding my question here as well.
I wonder if anyone has installed an Apple Carplay on a 2016 Audi RS7 / S7 / A7.
It seems like a non-trivial work, so maybe there's a shop that can do it in Chicago area...

Its fairly easy to do. I did it on my 2016 A7 last week. I had to download a huge file onto an SD card and unzip it. Then I had to contact this guy on telegram to remotely access my windows laptop and dlink the laptop to the car's USB port and he goes through all the steps with you and update the MMI to car play and android auto in 1 hour. Cost was only 155 bucks which was a steal. He will request 155 by paypal after hes done and you are happy.

What you need:
-A windows based PC(can use VM ware or whatever emulation on the Mac to run windows)
-PC needs an internet connection and needs an Ethernet port(could try using an adapter but adapter-adapter may add complications)
-D-Link e100 USB Ethernet adapter(I assume because Audi has created their mmi system to understand this adapter only- others may work but why take the chance)
8GB SD card or larger. Also need a USB to sd card reader if your laptop doesn’t have one built in
Download telegram onto you phone and contact the guy at @carplay_audi when you are ready and he is 12 hours ahead in China and has good english and will guide you on the phone through texts on what to do.
Download teamviewer so he can remotely access your computer and connect with car.
here are someone's brief steps:
1. download file from Mega at https://mega.nz/#!TGoEkASB!9MS1YWoki...CFTT9geqmZB3-I
2. Use Teamviewer and connect w/him
3. He puts some files to SD CARD to PC
4. SD Card to MMI (Network cable to USB in Car)
5. MMI Reboot
6. Back + Bottom Left (GREEN MENU)
7. Ok --> Scroll Down --> RCC FOLDER --> SWDL --> User Defined SWDL check box RADIO Button
8. Back + Top Left (RED MENU)
9. UPDATE bottom Right
10. USER DEFINED
11. Bose Folder --> All (in upper Right Change to NONE)
12. He looked at RCC Folder (might be for cars with certain options.. i didn't do any changes)
13. START--> Continue--> Start
14. He checks to see if the update applied to all selections..
15. Resume --> Cancel Version Compare
16. Checks to see if Radio/Audi Nav Work.
17 SD Card to PC --> He moves some files
18 SD Card to MMI --> Reboots
19 Plug in Phone Works? = Done (mine required redoing steps 17 & 18)
I am very happy with my Android Auto, it works perfectly!

Doing it on 2016 Audi S6
Hey I see that you did the car play to your a7 2016 and I have a 2016 S6. Could it be compatible because they are basically the same system? Will it void any warranty?
Thanks!
Thanks!

I just did mine thanks to your post. Exactly what you said happened and the same results. Thank you for all the detail and the post.
