Audi A7 is Reliable?
#11
This report is a prediction of 2013 reliability based on prior years. Apparently they feel that Audi has worked out the kinks since introduction. Good sign.
The magazine predicts the reliability of 2013 model-year cars and trucks based on a survey of readers who own 1.2 million vehicles from the 2010 through 2012 model years.

More expensive than you may think
I've owned this car since 2015, my wife drives it to work. Besides several recalls and regular services, we had to repair it eight times for the total of $7.7K. It has plenty of power, and nice features, but be ready to pay for it. $ 47.70re-set service light $ 797.48rear breakes $ 1,752.75coolant pump $ 625.37check engine light - coolant valve $ 163.15door handle cap fell off $ 847.59door latch, headlight module $ 3,469.69front camera, pcv valve, coolant leak

gfd11 - You mention you've owned the car since 2015, but I'd be curious what model year the car is and how many miles on it. Was it purchased new, CPO or from a third party?
I'm on my 3rd A7 (MY12, MY15, MY19) and my 7th Audi. They have all been remarkably reliable, but obviously these are complicated cars. Anytime you add complexity into something the odds of faults increase.
When my non-car obsessed friends ask me what car to buy for reliability and durability over a 5-10 year period (and I know they don't care about driving enjoyment) I tell them to go buy a Toyota , Honda or if looking for something with prestige a Lexus. Granted many of us on this forum would be miserable with drives like that, but if reliability and durability over a long period is your #1 concern then Audi, MB and BMW are probably not the brands for you. That's not to say they are unreliable and surveys like JD Power's Dependability show Audi, BMW and MB all above average, but we all know the reliability of the Japanese brands as well as the lower cost of maintenance. Lexus routinely is #1 in dependability studies.
However, just buying a prestige brand does mean it will be above average reliability. Just ask Land Rover and Jaguar owners that (although to be fair they are getting better).
All that said parts do wear out. Brakes, pumps, tires, battery, lines and hoses, etc.... I replaced my brakes on the MY15 A7 twice in the 4 years I had her. Preventive maintenance is critical for these cars to avoid large expense later. It won't avoid all issues and it sounds like you've had a couple items like headlight and camera problems that seem odd.

Complaining? I have not said a bad word about this car yet, just gave you guys data. You can laugh, say that it's outdated, or use it for you next decision, that is up to you. Wonder how you feel about your prestige car, waiting on a tow truck because your plastic cooling pump impeller failed. While Hundais and Hondas are passing by.
