Audi A7 window tinting gotchas to avoid
I used 3M Crystalline 40 on the rear deck and 50 on the four doors shown below. Even with more light transmission the Crystalline cuts down on heat and has great UV filration. It also provides for good visibility at night. I've gone as dark as 25 on my SUV and it is a bit too much for good vision.
Other brief tips. Metallics will interfere with electronics such as GPS or radar/laser detectors. Other less expensive tints do not have as good heat reflection or UV protection, only cheap tint fades or purples. Pick an experienced shop and if possible, get a guarantee. The install should be all the way to windows edges, no gaps should show. You'll need to keep windows up for 3-4 days to allow any moisture or bubbles to evaporate and allow the film to cure cleanly. Lastly, I have had window tint and clear bra on every vehicle, worth every penny.

Thanks for the reply. Buying the car in Orlando, live in Gainesville, and also have a place in Sarasota if your dealer is also in any of those places. (My folks used to live in Boynton but no more. . .)
Windows are not tinted. I live in houston texas, for now and want to get the car windows tinted (all of them).
I found a reputable shop here in houston.
Are there any gotchas i need to be aware of before i pull the trigger?
Any thoughts on the tint grade i should obtain (i know this is all subjective)
Also what if i move to another state. Is it possible that my tint grade percentage is to dark for another state? would i have to get my tints removed?

I went to Audi dealership Audi - North Houston and they charged me $275 and i got a loaner Q7 to drive around in for 24 hours! didnt have to refuel either!
They were very strict on the tint level. They said they will not make it super dark but just like all the other cars in the showroom. They kept emphasizing "classy" I was cool with that. Its still dark enough such that you have to look really hard and be really close to see inside. and at night you cannot see inside at all. Also i dont get what the big deal on tint shades is for because the front windshield cannot be tinted although i see some cars in the road with tinted windshields, perhaps a state regulation thing. But audi north houston would not tint my windshield at all. so my point is you can still see inside the car from the front windshield.....
Ok when you get the car back there will be tiny air bubbles all over the tint film on the windows. and the window will have filmy cloudy residue on it. I was instructed not to clean the car until 3 days went by, to give the film time to cure onto the glass windows.
I was pissed when I first got the car and did not realize the anomaly of air bubbles until i was driving home and then it was too late to call the service dept because they was closed. So the entire ride home im cussing up a storm that they messed up my tint job and how unprofessional they were.
The next day the service gal told me its common to see tiny bubbles and as the weather heats up the bubbles will dry up and go away and she was correct. After 3 days i had no more bubble but on the first day i had so many bubbles my vision was blurred looking out of the windows.
So here are my pictures of my A7 tinted......now after what..8 months?
I love the A7 even more now with the tints.....
people seem to be even more curious about the car now that it has tints...
