Ive always been a fan of the A8 gear ****. I know it may not embody the sportiness of the A7 but Im a fan of the form factor for some reason. While i know its a "stationary" gear **** (not exactly sure how else to describe it) wonder if anyone has ever considered a swap out mod or if anyone thinks its possible? Still waiting on the facelift to hit the US before ordering my A7 but thought i'd ask in advance to get some early insight
I did similar when I had my A6 C6. I fitted the A7 gear **** because aesthetically it was a significant improvement over the old A6 one.
However Im not sure the A8 to A7 swap is practical. If you look at the detailed components pic, the first thing to note is that the A8 gear selector shaft is square. On the A7 its round.
Also, the A8 is more of an electronic selector mechanism ("Selectronic") and its not clear to me how the A8 selector release button would be able to release the mechanical A7 selector.
I thought about the possibility of doing this too! I hope someone can figure it out.
I love the aesthetic of the a8 handle
So I'm not alone after all. Good to hear. I honestly don't care if the selectronic function can be carried over or not, I'm just a fan of the aesthetic. While the **** may not be the traditionally sporty style, imo I think it fits rather perfectly for a sports vehicle in the sense that its form factor is more accommodating to the whole hand.
