So I've noticed that my heated steering wheel doesn't get all that, well, heated. My wife has a new grand Cherokee with heated steering and it gets nice and toasty. The A7 wheel you can kinda feel (barely)warm just a bit in a couple places, but nothing like the jeep, which is almost like holding a warm cup of coffee.
Any of you notice the same, or should I have them check it out?

Not sure about the wheel, (I did want the heat package but it wasnt anywhere to be found at my time of purchase), but I wish the seats had a larger area of heat, especially upper back.
Curious as to what others say as well..

The steering wheel heater on my A6 does not get as warm as our 2002 allroad but is mostly adequate and the temp seems to vary with the interior temperature. I've also noticed the wheel temp varies depending on hand location - i.e. it's warmer near the spokes. I believe this is one of those cases of Audi engineers attempting to "improve" on earlier designs. (If it ain't broke, don't fix it).

Mine doesn't get hot either, but it does seem to get warmer when the ambient temperature gets colder. So just wait for those really cold mornings and it should feel warmer, it may just be too early in the season...

Thanks guys. Interesting theory that the heat increases/decreases with ambient temp. And it would fit because here in Seattle we're still in the high 40's when it's "cold". Of course what heat it's producing will be more noticeable the colder it gets, so I'll see what happens when we get an actual freeze.

hi all from D3 land
browsing in here as i am thinking of moving into A7.
fwiw in the A8 D3 the heated wheel seems tepid at times
as i believe it targets a specific output temp "x"
when ambient temp falls below a target "y".
it appears in the testing blocks of vagcom.
i learned this while installing my heated wheel.
dont have access to car or vag now but i think either
x or y (or both?) are set to 18c, or 64f, sorry to be so vague..
so the colder it is outside the greater contrast in temp of wheel vs ambient,
and the warmer the wheel will feel. at higher ambient temps it is
either off or warming just enough to meet the target.
i am assuming A7 operates same.

Ok, I'm going to mention this to the dealer when I have my first service. Like HisandHer said, most of the time I can't even tell if it's on unless I press the button to see the display. That's not right.
Obviously this is a first world problem but as small as it seems, I really love having a heated steering wheel and in an 80K car I shouldn't have to guess whether it's actually on or not.
I'll let you know what they say but it will probably be a few weeks before I bring it in.
