Default MMI startup

So, in measuring the MMI startup in my new A7, in the morning, the Nav takes 30 seconds, music starts playing off the SD in 80 seconds, and Google Earth comes in at 130 seconds.

But, if the car is shut down for <15 minutes, it all comes up immediately.

If the car is shut down for ~30 minutes, Nav is instant, but music is 60 seconds, and Google Earth is 84 seconds.

After an hour of shutdown, it's the same as overnight.

Is there any way (vag-com?) to push the "sleep" versus "shutdown" from <60 minutes to a few hours?

BTW, this is all with MMI version 715.

Thoughts?

eric

I haven't seen where anyone has discussed this or discovered a way in Vag-Com to change it and Audi has been using this "two step" sleep programming for several years. The MMI is tied to other systems like door locks, etc. for the "deep sleep" mode whose purpose is designed to save battery life (especially useful in colder climes). With all of the electronic systems included these days, they place an increased current draw compared to cars from several years ago.

Given my car has Start/Stop, and hence a beefier battery, I suspect it probably could "sleep" for a few hours without danger.

Still, sounds like it's not been an issue for Audi, so not likely to see any kind of change.

I don't think it's a matter of the (supposed) larger "stop/start" alternator being theoretically better at charging the battery but longevity of the battery itself.
The MMI system "cold" boot times can be a bit annoying, especially with the Audi Connect features, but I can live with it.
