Default Modifying My A7 Seats

Hey everyone,

So I've participated in many discussions regarding the merits of a modified A7 vs an S7. I've actually done a few mods to my A7: Stasis ECU flash, Eibach springs, custom subwoofer, window tinting etc.

I'd love to keep modding my A7 to really bring it closer to an S7 with an intake and pulley but the one thing preventing me from doing this is the lackluster A7 seats. Given all the gains we can get performance wise from modding our A7's no matter what we do the seats are still seriously lacking IMO. Forget comfort (I think they're fairly uncomfortable and too stiff) as comfort can be subjective, but lets talk about the lack of thigh and side bolstering...there is practically none. These seats under perform in a bone stock A7 not to mention how poorly they'll perform in a modded A7 approaching an S7 in performance!

One option would be to get my hands on some S7 sport or comfort seats but that would be cost prohibitive and I might as well forget my further mods and just go S7 at that point.

The other option is to bring my A7 to a seat specialist and see what the cost would be. I can see it being anywhere from $1 - $2k per seat to get some decent thigh and side support while also softening the seats to make them more comfortable for everyday driving.

I can't recall if there has been a serious discussion on this forum on how to get around this issue (I've seen plenty complaining about the seats) without having to get a new A7 or S7 just to get better seats.

So here it is, I'd like to challenge all you A7 "modders" out there (you know who you are) to start a serious discussion, right here, right now on the best and most cost efficient way to get our A7 seats up to the performance level of the engine and suspension mods many of us have been doing. It's way overdue as these seats are the weakest link (performance wise) in an otherwise outstanding vehicle.

Who's up for the challenge?

I do not know who are you referring to? You are right about the seats, but I do not think it will be cost effective at all.

Actualy I was referring to forum members just like you Feralc, those A7 owners who have done considerable amounts of modifications to their A7's...thus the term "modders".

Anyway, I'm in the NYC area and I'm gonna get some quotes on reworking the seats to see how much of a hit it would be and if it's even possible.

Get some aftermarket seats. Some high end Recaro's in leather, I personally like the Bride Carbon Kevlar seats. Instead of spending 1-2 on getting seats reworked spend it on new seats that will maintain their resale value.

I've thought about going the aftermarket route but won't I lose functions such as seat memory, powered adjustments, heating and cooling that I currently have? I would have to think I would, no?

Actually I used these guys on a 2012 Q5 I had and then sold for the A7, they're my first stop. They do really nice work. Thanks for the heads up.
