Default My poor baby......

So I ended up side swiping another vehicle last night. No excuses, I just wasn't paying attention. My alignment is way off and the dash reads:

Start-Stop System
System Fault
Function Unavailable

Stabilization Control
(ECS) Fault
See Owners Manual

This is the first time I've ever been involved in an accident and boy does it suck. Probably more so because I really love my A7. I read the manual and it told me to take it to my dealer right away. I'm leaving out of the country tomorrow (perfect timing) and wont be back for two weeks. Can any of you more knowledgeable gear heads chime in? Will letting it sit for 2 weeks be a problem? Will she still ride the same?

First off, my heart sank when I read your thread title. Sorry to hear that your car is hurt.

It can sit for two weeks just fine. Take your trip and get it fixed later. Don't drive it with the bad alignment. You might want to call a flat bed to take it to a collision shop before you leave. They can estimate the damage and perhaps start repairs or order parts while you are gone.

From the pictures, it does not look too bad. A new fender and bumper cover and maybe some steering/suspension components.

Sorry about your accident. Is the light damaged. It looks like you have LEDs. If so, I'd be interested in the repair cost for the LED. I would think it could sit fine for a couple weeks but I would want to get a jump on the repairs by leaving it at a reputable repair shop and keep in touch while I was gone.

No, the headlights are fine. Its just the door, fender, bumper, and alignment. I'm just hoping she will ride the same. I'm just kicking myself for making such a stupid mistake. Thankfully no one was injured though.

Sorry to hear. I found out after a recent incident with my A6 that alignment is very costly if you have night vision/acc.

Find out who is the best body shop in the area. Not always the one the insurance company wants you to take it to. The dealership should be able to do the alignment. Sometime the car need to be set just a little different than what the computer says to drive straight. The big problem you are going to deal with is if you have pearl or metallic paint to get it to match.

it was estimated at $850 (at the dealer). Was to be done on Friday/today so I should find out for sure hopefully later. Sucks having the car out.

Dude!! Ouch! Sorry to hear/see. However, you've prolly already departed the country. Why don't you take it to the dealer and leave it while you are gone. They can get the process started and when you return, you will have saved yourself two weeks...

When I had the S5 something flew through my windshield at 65mph. I had it towed to the dealer, met my insurance adjuster there the next morning, and never touched my car again... until, it was time to pick her up, from the dealer mind you, in pristine condition!

Ouch! Your insurance will double up soon, if you're at fault.

Now, you probably need to make sure that your chassis alignment is back to normal, or you'll always be driving it in a crooked way.
