Default Panamera to A7

Just traded my 2011 Panamera 4 for a 2012 A7 Dakota Grey Premier w/ 20" rims. Interiors are comparable (Panny had full leather interior) but the A7 had the dge on technology (this may not be a great thing as Audi reliability is still suspect in my book). The Panamera felt much bigger and I am plesanatly surprised that the automatic transmission in the A7 is nearly as responsive as the PDK was in the Panamera. Minor issue encountered on day one was the rear courtesy lights are inoperable requiring a trip back to the dealer. Definitely prefer the rims on the A7!!

Thx for the comparo - I priced a 4S while shopping around... Just a tad bit too pricey for my wallet, but I LOVE it. It will be my next vehicle though (Pending a palatable redesign).

I tend to trade cars often and had several A8's years ago when the D3 body style was forst introduced which were beautiful cars despite their electronic gremlins. The new A8's do no interest me at all and I think the A7 is a much nicer looking vehicle. The Panamera is due for a minor refresh sometime in 2013 and I would wait to see what that brings. I also drive a 911S (new body style) so I still get my Porcshe fix.

"...Interiors are comparable (Panny had full leather interior)..."
Interiors are comparable?!!! Wow, not even close in my view---the Pan interior IMO is beautiful and (even though I'm an Audi guy) much better appointed vs. the A7. Those Panamera seats are way more comfortable (at least for me) compared with any Audi model (even my D4 A8).

The Panamera is more luxurious while the Audi has a more sporty feel. I loved the rising center console of the Panamera and the touch screen nav but the stndard interior of the A7 is really nice. (The full leather interior on my Panny was near a $5K option!)

No doubt that the A7 interior is quite nice, but IMO not nearly as nice as the Pan's standard interior. Your upgraded interior must have been a nice place to be...A friend of mine has the Pan 4S with the 2 tone upgraded leather interior---it's quite a cabin!!! :^)

I also had the two tone grey/black leather interior. Having spent some more time in the A7 this morning I can say the Panamera seats offered better support especially the side bolsters. Although I haven't tried them the rear seats in the Panny seemed to be more bucket like and the rea center console was definitely more prominent (The Panamera was clearly never designed to have three rear seats whereas with the A7 it appears feasible. If he already hasn't done so tell your friend to have film installed to protect the entire area in front of the rear wheel wells or that area will get destroyed. After only 18 months mine needed serious paint work in that region (part of the reason I decided to trade).

This should be done on the A7 as well, especially the Prestige trim as the splash guards for the A7 only work on the Premium and Premium Plus bodywork, not the Prestige. The same area, directly in front of the rear wheel wells, as well as the rear bumper area and the lower backside of the hatch get absolutely covered in dirt and road grit. The only way I see to be able to protect the paint is getting the film done.

I am CONSTANTLY washing this car, absolutely impossible to keep clean...worst car I have ever owned in this regard.
