Question on A7 Tires/Wheels
This is probably a stupid question but I can’t seem to find help anywhere not from a dealer or anything...
I have a 2012 Audi A7 Prestige currently running 255/40/19s
i am planning to downsize to 18s but the current tires are
225/45/18s
will these work/be okay? I am at a complete loss and have no idea. Don’t want to anger the car and have it start throwing codes or breaking anything haha
thanks in advance -

You came to right place. First question is why you downsizing to 18s? for winter or all year round? You are correct you need the right tire size or it will not only set off Tpms but can cause strain on the quattro if its greater than 3% difference from stock 18s. You need 255/54r18 but to be honest its very very ugly on the A7. Are you having issues with ride comfort on 19s or bending rims which should not happend with audi oem rims or bad snow traction?
I run 275/35r20 summer Michelin ps4 for summers and no issues and 266/40r19 Michelin pa4 winter tires and rims. it protects the rims more and no issues with bent rims and I get smooth ride I also get perfect traction in snow and ice with my winters which beats all seasons any day
As long as all 4 tires are the same size, you're fine.
225/45/18 is not the correct 18" tire for the car. Too small, inadequate capacity, etc.
There are no TPMS sensors in the wheels.
Welcome aboard!

I have been having bad issues with ride quality as well as smacking rims on these ridiculous indiana roads.
Have been having a hard time eating cost of new tires on the 19 inch wheels which have been beaten up and uglied not having a choice otherwise.
The tires (225/45/18) on the 18 inch wheels are in great shape. So it’s unfortunate to lose them.
I had a Road force balance down and they were all under 10lbs, but the ride quality is still extremely shot due to the tires being so worn.

Thats good you found out using road force balance. I do that on all my tires and aim for 10 lbs and lower . What tires you have now? Pirellis? My car is very smooth and more comfy with Michelins. You should look into trying them instead before downsizing. The A7s does well with better tires. There are Continental DWS which people are also very happy with and are softer. And there are no TPMS but a sensor that detects abnormal rotation of tire in respect to standard rotation and will alert you if its not within spec or low pressure.
