Timing Chain Help!
I have a 2012 Audi A7 Prestige with 99K miles on it. I recently replaced the motor mounts, front and rear breaks and rotos and all four tires then paid it off. Two days after I paid it off I pulled into a 7-11 and everything was fine. When I came out and started the car it sounded very bad like it was misfiring. I managed to drive it a couple blocks to my house then had it towed to my mechanic. He scanned it and showed a message about cam 2 position and he said he thinks the timing chain skipped a tooth and he didn't have the tools to dig into the engine. I towed it to the dealer and they confirmed the same thing. They stated that it would cost about $800 just to take the heads off and just the timing. If it was the timing chain then it would cost about 10K to fix. If I declined to fix it would cost another $ 800 to put it back together. There are no recalls even though I know Audi realizes there's an issue. I'm looking for a cheap good mechanic that could possible fix it. Anyone know someone who has made this exact repair near Maryland?

You can try an independent shop as their price would be much less. I was quoted about $5,000 last year from a shop near me in Indiana to do a full engine out timing chain replacement. Wound up doing the job myself.
