Tracking my A7 across the Atlantic
My 2013 A7 is currently on a ship in the Atlantic headed to port in Brunswick GA. The ETA at the Brunswick port is 8/11.
Does anyone know if there's a way to track my car's movement once it arrives at port?
Thanks!

Just got a convertible 335i delivered this past Thursday. There's a useful sticky thread on this forum on bimmerfest.com: E90/E91/E92/E93 (2006 - 2013). Wish I'd seen that while my A7 was coming across the pond. Your salesperson should be able to provide you with a ship's name. Let us know how it goes.

The ship is the Marina Ace, and I've been following it for the past couple days.
Was just curious of I could track it once it arrived at port.
Thanks.

Delivery Lead Time
My BMW experience: get a tracking (order) number, track through the production process, date at port and name of ship, plus ports of call. The link referred to by 80MGB allowed me to follow the ship. Mercedes does not have such a system that I could find when I ordered my current ride, 2010 E350 but I did find the name of the ship and track it. MB sales folks not very helpful.
For my BMW, from date of order the production took 2 weeks in queue, 2 weeks production and 2 weeks to port and cross the pond. Can anyone tell me what the expected lead time is for a 2013 A7 and can the production be tracked online?

I wonder what determines the production order and ship.
My order went in their system on June 12 and it arrived at
the dealer Friday. Their computer showed it went into production June 21.
The dealer was shocked it came in only 7 weeks. I was thrilled!!!
The orginal estimate given to me was 12-16 weeks.

Sounds like you happened to catch one on its way to the port. If you are on the East Coast the shipping time is quite a bit less than to CA. I know once a boat leaves port it takes 5 weeks to get to San Francisco and up to another 6 days to get it out of customs.

There are a lot of variables involved, from production schedules to sailing times, to rail schedules, options that affect production schedules, port congestion, etc. I would check with the salesperson about inland tracking, but doubt there's anything like that which would be shared. Too bad it's not like tracking a package on UPS.com!

My experience with Audi is the salesperson can track the receipt at port and after it goes through customs and port prep, he can see a release to carrier. Unfortunately, he can't tell when it actually leaves the port with the carrier or where it is until it arrives. Sometimes it can show released to carrier but sits waiting for a truck or railcar before it actually leaves the port agency. At that point, a dealer won't know the exact arrival date until it shows up at the dealer.
