Keep in mind also what (from what I've heard) the A7 will launch in the US with 4-5 standard configurations. We will have to wait and see if the laser headlights make it on one of those configs

I saw an episode of Jay Leno's Garage on the rear wheel drive R8. The Audi rep said the 2019 A6, A7, A8, Q8 will come with the hardware for matrix LED headlights and the software could be added once the capability passes regulations. This may be the case with the laser high beams too. If some day laser high beams are allowed, a simple software upgrade makes them available for use.

I was at the dealer yesterday and they had an R8 w/ the laser headlights on the showroom floor. The laser functionality is enabled for high beams only for the US market (perhaps Canada, but not sure). However, the "matrix laser" functionality is not enabled due to US regulations. In theory (I suppose) they could be software upgraded to full functionality once US laws allow.

I asked about the upcoming A7 and they said it will ship initially the same way as the R8 if laser lights are selected

That will be an optional feature right?

I think I've stopped holding my breath waiting for the 2019 price guide and orders to open.
With the hold on all 2018 A6 and A7's due to the airbag issue, I cant see them starting 2019's when the showrooms are jammed with 2018's that cant be sold or delivered.
And even more troubling is the fact that they STILL don't have a solution for the seat/airbag problem. That is actually terrifying!
I think I'll hold my A6 for a while. Audi is starting to worry me
Maybe I'll go on the BMW 6 series configurator

Don't hold your breath but my hunch is they'll drop next month. Am interested but wouldn't order one until I kick the tires, test drive, read the reviews, news, and compare to 540i.

I believe A7 pre-order has started. Check the other thread here where someone has placed an order for A7. I wouldn't be placing any order unless I test drive one.
2018 A6 sales:
Jun, Jul
309, 157

2018 A7 Sales:
Jun Jul
158 107

These numbers are shocking. Equivalent Mercedes and BMW models sell between 3 and 4K. Is it because customers are waiting for the 2019 models?

+1. The more I read about Audi's problems the more I'm considering a BMW 540i.

What are the problems other than the air bag ones? I own the new Q7 and its been a very good experience. It seems Audi has been neglecting the A6 and A7.
