In a nutshell, I was moving @ 30-35mph and I heard a crunch (similar to driving over a plastic cup). I looked in the sideview mirror and didn't notice anything that I may have driven over. After parking the car I noticed a metal rod about 2 ft. in lenght sticking out from the plastic undercarriage on the driver's side passenger area. Suggestions?

I just jacked the car up a little, and looked under there with a drop light, and that was my "read" on the situation.

I wonder how there was enough tension on it, when it was "at rest" to break it ...

I'd take a real close look at the underside, in the vicinity of the cable break.

there wasn't any noticeable debris on the road when i heard the snap. Good thing I'm still under warranty.

As an aside, last week the moonroof sliding panel 'guard' snapped such that the slider now slides all the way into the roof liner towards the back seat. what a strange couple of weeks. Thanks again for the help.
