Front Strut Boot Back

Here is a picture of my 2001 Audi S8 front boot back (I think) the top part looks to be a protective 'sleeve' with some wear and tear, should I be concerned?

If not an issue, I will stay with the S8 OEM suspension, given the comparative reviews. The ride is great and I am fine with the current height of the vehicle.
