Default 2001 S8 Going to sell the beast, Carbon fiber trim on US car

Been off the boards for some time due to work etc...

I am going to call it quits on the S8. I have loved every day of it, but it is time to move on.

blk/blk 72K miles, transferable CPO warranty until 10/19/2007 or 100,000. Meticulously cared for, rare Euro only carbon fiber trim, heavily tinted windows, S8 brake block, wire mesh lower grill, just serviced, all packages including navigation.
pretty new tires, new brakes, runs like a scalded cat, no accidents.

Make me a reasonable offer. Going to trade at the end of the week.

Default Move on to what?

Why would anybody sell a perfectly good S8? What could one possibly move on to?

RS6. Been a long time dream, and I finally found the perfect car. Like I said, I have loved the S8. It has been an amazing car.

Default Once you get the RS6 and acclimate post back here if you would your...

...compare / contrast thoughts. Always good insight.

So where'd you score that uber CF interior anyway??? I'd kill for that. Your car sounds killer all black like that.

Also, pardon me ignorus maximus here and sure it was covered some time ago but I'm a 6mo. newb hre. What's the story with the "brake block"??? I noted one on Randy's car in one of his posts last week but didn't ask then. Assume it gives the MC some sort of better performance due to the bolstering. How much was it, opinions about it, etc.?

Good luck with the sale, and on your new toy. Awesome.

Default what are they offering as a trade number?

I know it isn't always accurate, since they can just raise that number and not lower the price on the RS6 to come up with the same total.

Default Here's the story on The Block

The Block firmed up my brake pedal dramatically and eliminated ~2" of pedal travel. See S8 Brakes: Chapter 8

These are the dimensions, which you're free to use. Someone had a machine shop make about 10 of these a year or two ago and sold them at a very reasonable price.

Default REALLLLLY now??? Very interesting Randy, and...

...as always, THANKS for sharing!!! Appreciate your valued feedback and the dimensions.

Sounds very intriguing. TWO inches??? If it weren't "you" I'd say a major WTF??? How's that accomplished? There's really that much flex in, like, what, the firewall, apparently? How is it affixed? Just wedged on in between the brace and the MC? Again, sorry for the ignorant questions but if the shoe fits......

ANYway...

I'm on this - what with the portfolio I manage having something like ~ 30-odd manufacturers in it I'm sure I can harvest one out to do me a flavor yeah.

ASSuming I can finagle somone into doing a run, whatsda interest gents???

Lovin these el cheapo mods (again shoe / fits) I am. Spacers - done. X pipe will be here in a day or so. Brake block to byebye 2" of pedal travel? SOITENLY. Car's comin along quite nicely it is heh heh.

Oh, ps. Randy... hear you "entertained" Justy around Mid-Ohio in your beast a few years back - good stuff...

Default Re: Don't forget....S8 only on the brake block

Randy,

Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe the block will only work on the S8, as the A8 does not have the cross brace for the block to affix to.

I can tell you that the block makes "all" the difference in the world from a pedal feel perspective.

Warm regards,

Stephen
