Default 2002 Lease Deal: Looking for Advice

I am considering turning my A6 over to my wife. I would then lease the A8 from my local dealer. The car is a short wheelbase stickering at 69.9. To make a long story short, I was hoping that someone else completed a transaction recently and would share their term, payment, cap red, money factor, purch price information with me. I am not sure at this point what a good deal really looks like. I typically purchase not lease, so I have less experience in this space. Thank you for taking the time to help.

57910 was the closeout price I saw (about 1 month ago) for the same short wheelbase vehicle at my local dealer in Michigan (ie 69900 sticker basically loaded with the 18" hollow spokes). Dealer said Audi was offering some year end money. Lease rates still seemed out of line, as the residuals where poor. Hope this helps.

Default What region are you in ? There are a few good salespeople online who can

be consulted. Deals tend to be regional based on inventory. Lots left ? You'll see sub-venting. Only a few stragglers ? Deals are over. The lease and interest rates change around the 6th of each month.

Yea... These cars are tough to lease... the money just doesn't seem to add up well. I don't think I am a cheap person but the first year depreciation alone is almost 15K... that said unless there is some factory incentive these cars leave you to take a beating.

Too bad... they really are wonderful, but that return makes WCOM look good and is probably not sensible.

Thank you for sharing the going rate from MI. I think I can wind up in line with that... but I needed a second opinion. Have a great weekend. Maybe my sales person has a trick left up her sleve to get this deal done on Monday and make it look better than it did today.

Default Why not buy?

Unless this car is being bought and paid for a by a company or for other tax purposes, you'll be paying so much for that car and you won't even own it when you are done.

Why not get a 2000 or 2001 used? If you get it Audi Assured, it will be like having a new car as far as the warranty goes. Most people who have these cars new don't do anything but treat them well.

Otherwise, you're only paying interest on the portion you are using, plus the depreciation. You end up with nothing at the end of the lease.

But as I said, you might have other reasons why you are leasing.

Good luck!

Paul

You got it I use it for work primarily... they cover a fair amount of the car. I started down the purchase path on a 01' like you suggested. I might wind up back there, but I have a reasonable lease profile (<15K/year, like new cars, used for work, ect.) so I figured I would check it out.

Default If you want a spreadsheet...

...that I put together for my girlfriend comparing buying, leasing and presitige purchase I will be happy to send it to you. She ended up buying her 2002 A4, her 99 was bought on a presitige purchase, and she esentially had to pay $1800 to get out of her old car.

Just email me if you are interested. Good luck!

Sure I would love to see that spreadsheet... I put one together, but other ideas are always good... and I didn't add the lease section yet so yours would be a huge help. Really this whole thing is a little more complicated, my fiance needs a car so I was thinking of giving her my A6 (purchased) if there is a nice lease program. In some magical way my guy brain told me that her needing a car was an excuse for me trying to get my hands on the A8... Nice rationalization he... Thank you for sharing your work.
