2002 S8 v 2004 XKR - any opinions?
Merry Xmas everyone.
Both seem to be depreciation leaders and can be had with reasonable miles for about $25K.
Coming from an 2000 S4 (stage 3), but I need some space in back, as I plan so sit in back at least half the time -- too much traffic. The XJR comes in better colors, but it's the first model year of that generation.
thoghts?

The Jag is a FORD. nuff said...
honestly, you are gonna get a slightly skewed opinion on that choice here...The S8 is a monster and probably the most well equipped, sexiest, powerful lux sedan out there. But the only way to decide is to drive them both. The S8 is a rare bird...the jag is a stuffy "british" car that looks way ritzier than it is. the S8 is calm collected and understated but commands attention, more for the WTF is that factor than anything else.

Re: oooh tough one.
The jags from a few years ago were basically cheap-*** ford ripoffs of what Jaguar used to be.
They were even using Mondeo chassis and switchgear in them FFS!
I'd go with the 8 over a Jag any day.

Where do you live, are you snow-bound? Remember the QUATTRO in the S8. Yes, the Jag is a glorified Ford. The fact that both sell for about the same price even though they are two years apart should say something.

http://I</a

I drove both...the JAG a 2007 Super 8 Portfolio & a 04 XJR
I had the fortune of test driving the Super 8 during a light Ohio snow (less than 2 inches) on the ground and can I say IT SUCKED!!!! The huge V8 keep spinning the rear end all over the road even with the "advanced traction" control. I came back a year or later to test drive the JR this time on a dry day and still chose the S8. The Jag was way small in the cabin, I am 6' 3" and I was cramped and uncomfortable when driving. The car is very large but has a small cabin given it has to make room for the massive V8 and typically large "boot" as the Brits would say. I chose the S8 because the power is much more even and smooth. The Jag's whine is sweet and the nearly 400 horses are appealing but is wasted on a heavy, rear-wheel drive, and cramped application.
No thanks...I will stick with the sleeping giant.
