2003 S8 - Battery case size & hold downs
What battery case size fits a D2 that specifies a 520A battery? I want a battery which fits the exisiting battery brackets, without doing modifications.
If no current battery fits, does Audi offer factory modification for current battery sizes?
Our mechanic put in a BCI Group 49/DIN H8 battery, and it's too short to fit the battery brackets.
One option is to replace the battery with the correct size.
The other is to replace the brackets with ones that work with a Group 49 battery.
Here’s a photo of what our 2003 S8 battery should look like (not from my car):

S8 520A battery with hold-downs
The photo shows it as
Audi Part: 4D0 915 105 C
12v 520A 110Ah DIN
850A EN/SAE
The battery is held at the top on the left by a fixed bracket, and on the right by a flat bracket which slides down and holds the bottom lip of the battery. The nut holding it in place is partly visible on the right of the photo.
Is this the same size as a BCI Group 95R/DIN H9 battery?
(390-394mm x 175mm x 190mm)
The Audi parts catalog shows two different styles of brackets for facelift D2 battery. A second type shows a curved bracket instead of the flat bracket mine has on the right. Confusingly, the Audi catalog shows the curved bracket as for the 520A battery, but I think that’s a mistake.
Our car has what’s labeled as #23 (flat bolt down bracket) & #27 (fixed upper bracket) in the Audi parts image.

How do parts #24 (curved bolt down bracket) & #28 (strap) work? I assume they are for the 450A battery, but I don't know how they install. Would they work with a Group 49 battery?
Thanks.

ps: The parts diagram image I uploaded is only about 2.3 x 2.3 inches, but the forum made it larger. I do not know how to make it smaller.
