2004 A8 Buyback at $67,800
The A8s have been keeping value remarkably well. This one on eBay will show you how well even a buy back will hold. It also gives all the details about a buyback.
The Porsche Cayenee and BMW 745 are two new cars known to have bad resale right away. A $65k Cayenne will bring you back $45k trade in 12 months later. The 2002 745 that costs $70k two years ago will sell for $45k to $50k.
I love these cars but can not understand why anyone would buy these cars new. OK, so you get to right in off and they do drive heavenly. I have been watching the new A8s to see if they follow the pattern of the new 7 series which has been below average at best. Will these cars be going for $30k in three more years?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2458605458&cat egory=6005</a

I will never buy an audi new again.
I remember seeing on ebay a 2004 S4 with 3000 miles for about $45,000 or so. It was audi certified, so for $5000 less, you get a car with a few miles and double the warranty.

Re: 2004 A8 Buyback at $67,800....I wouldn't touch that car
It most likely has electrical demons...AoA did not buy that car back because of just minor problems with the tire pressure monitoring system. Maybe it has the same haunted "features" of my car from time to time.

That's interesting we found the original owner on this post. Is this the one that had the trunk popping open? I have a feeling they are trying to make it like a tire pressure light would not go off. I have a new light on in my car every other month.
Do you guys think there were more problems than the tire pressure monitor as mentioned? How are these cars going to be on year 4,5,and 6? You guys get to get rid of them after a few months. What about the guys that get all these lights you can not even imagine until year 5? Would you buy this car in the year 2007 for $30k?

Re: It's my old car!
Did you replace your 2004 with another A8? Did you get black again? Did you lose any money or did they just trade the old for new with no sales tax?

You gotta be kidding
1. The auction listing understates the "issues" with this trouble-plagued vehicle. See my posts between June-August 2003 for a better idea of what "was" wrong with this car.
2. I took the money and ran. Got a Lexus LS-430. Great car. In 5,000 miles so far not one "issue" of any kind no matter how minor. Just works like a charm.
