97 A8 155k miles
Just picked up a 97 silver A8 w/ 155k miles. The car looks like new (amazing). Older gentlemen took unbelievable care of the car. Paid $9.5k (maybe to much?) The front end has been redone (tie rods etc).
Just having some buyers remource w/ all the potential pitfalls of owning a vehicle with that many miles. Worried about Tans. and motor, but both seem good at this point? Just wondering how long these machines can go if kept in great condition? Thanks

I would check the head gasket for oil leakage. Tranny filter replacement/flush then you should be
good. Mine is right at 154k and I drive my car hard! She's a beauty as long as the maintenance is taken care of.

Unbelievable. Just as you said. He had an oil leak problem at 144k and got it fixed (I believe it was a gasket-No leaks present. Tranny also flushed at 144k. Thinking I should have a mechanic confirm, just to be safe (although he has the paper work)?
What are your thoughts on the water pump/timing belt replacement? He had his done at 89K. I've read a few things saying you shouldn't wait until 90K?
By the way, you car is awesome? I need to get some better wheels ASAP. Thanks
