I noticed a few people requesting pics/ideas for a trailer hitch. I welded this one a few years back. It is only a class 1 because I didn't see anyone doing this (at the time) and I wasn't sure about an A8 pulling a trailer.

I just created an account here so sorry if this seems late.

A few notes:
-at the driver side mount, the muffler hanger is welded to the hitch
-I used this unconventional electric plug (6 wire) because I energize the trailer lights circuitry by the trailer plug.

Again?- I designed a relay circuit to adapt the Audi to the trailer. But when I am not using the trailer, I don't want the relays clicking so I send 12v down the 5th wire and the receiver plug on the trailer loops it back up the 6th wire (to the car) to energize the circuit.

-I bought the hitch from a used pile at a trailer shop and modified it. I don't know what it originally fit.

You can see it best on the passenger side mount picture. A little rectangular pad under the mount.

I used one of those dollar store roll up plastic cutting boards. It is very tough stuff and far cheaper than anything else.
