My buddy did the exact same thing with his 84 vette, it took him over a year to get everything done properly.

I work WAY too much.

It is being done by a shop that has done custom work for me before. Most is covered my an insurance claim for (lots) minor damage from a wind storm.

... but there is a lot extra which is out of my pocket..

I'll be at WF, since I'm only 15 minutes away. First time going without the Scirocco .... needs a rehab like u did to the 8. Good luck with the new paint!
