Default A8L Vs 745li

I am thinking about getting the A8l and I wanted to know who had a 7 series before they got an A8. I have a 2002 7 series (my fifth seven in twelve years) and I am very dissapointed so I am thinking about making a jump. Who has done this before me and what are the results

Default Have you considered the LS430?

I know this is an Audi forum, and the New A8L is quite impressive (seems the major complaint is the MMI), but I've already read 1/2 dozen complaints from new A8L owners (outside temp gauge irreparably inaccurate, etc.) and customer care still seems to be lacking.

Lexus on the other hand won "most reliable" for the 10th consecutive year, has incredible customer service, and is a damn nice car. But, I have to admit it doesn't have the German "feel" (I must admit I haven't driven a new one though).

Default get the 04 A8L

My buddy has a 2004 A8L and has had no problems.

There are only a handful of problems reported here, but no one is going to post about a non-problem. Compared to the 745, the A8L is much more reliable and just a better car.

Default A8L- Hands down!

I had a 2002 745I and had a collateral exchange to a 2003 745LI. Problems and service issues still exisited. I leased the A8L in September and thou it has minor faults it runs like a charm. I have been "very satisfied" as I had my 25,000 mile check up today. Better residuals and multiple security deposits available on Audi.

Default Kinda shallow but...

two fantastic cars, one with the advantage of 4 wheel traction and "relatively" comprehendable user interface, the other, well really ugly. By all means go for the beemer, but good luck finding a paper bag big enough to cover it when you're out in public

Default <sigh>

Yeah, that's what I was trying to say "buy a Lexus for the better temp gauge". Guess you proved your point. Buy the Audi, it's just as reliable. Never mind all those "customer satisfaction" and "reliability ratings"..they're only talking about the accuracy of the outside temp gauge.

Now that I'm done mocking your senseless post, let me clarify. I think a new car should not have little things going wrong like a temp sensor that reads way off (I'm not talking the typical shift when you're idling), and more importantly, I wouldn't expect a dealer to tell someone who just put $70k down on a car "sorry, we can't figure out what is wrong, you'll just have to live with it". Perhaps you didn't read the post to which I'm referring. What other problems do you expect to hear about a car that has been out for less than a year; transmission failures? Those issues surface down the road. But the little things that shouldn't fail in a new car that do, and the things the dealer should fix but can't (or won't) may be indicative of what coming years have in store.

Just my $.02 for what it's worth.

"the new 7 is like a homely girl who is good in bed. drives well, but no one wants to look at it."
