This information comes from the Jan. 12th issue of AUTOCAR magazine from the UK. The new A8 will continue to use an alluminum structure. The engine will be upgraded to a 5.6-liter W12 design(2 VR6 blocks put together) with over 400 hp.

I think the A8 will be more than ready to take on the V12 BMW 7-Series and MB S600 with this monster engine.

When Autocar says 2002, they mean 2002 calendar year. A dinner at my favourite quasi-dive resaturant says the next generation A8 will be a 2003 model in North America.

2002.... New 7 series BMW with AWD and 400+HP. You need to check out what the competition isdoing before making blanket statements. And you guessed it... I will replace my 99 750iL after 3 years (warranty and sched. maint. are over).
