Default Battery dead, trunk lock won't open manually with key!! Please advise!!

Hey guys,

Was wondering if anyone can help me. 97 A8 battery died this morning, went to give it a jump, can't open the trunk. The key on the trunk wont turn even if pushed in. Also I am unable to open the trunk with the manual release button on the inside. Any advise out there on how to get the trunk open, any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Default I had the same problem in the summer

The battery died, trunk release doesn't work on the fob or inside becuase the battery is the dead and key won't turn. The car was in the sun and expanded the lock. Audi dealer said they would have to drill the lock and replace it at around $800. I was like f that, took wd40, sprayed it in and the tried when it was cool. I had to try a couple of times and insert the key both ways before it turned to the left and opened. What's the weather like where you are?

get a jump box and put a 12 volt lighter adapter on it and stick it in the lighter socket it will giv you enough power to pop the trunk using the trunk release button the door sill

Default ideas

How about feeding in 12v via the cigarette lighter, or hooking jumper cables to ground and the starter...

Thanks for the suggestion, I tried 10W40 earlier, unfortunately it didn't work. The weather here in Chicago sucks, it snowed today and it is supposed to be 8 degrees tommorow.

all you want to do is get power slowly into it. You don't want to try and start the car through the circuit...
