Default brake job help

so i need brake pads all around and set up an appointment to get it done with my indy mech and hes telling me that you cant replace the pads on an 01 s8 without replacing rotors. Whats up with that? he usually is very reasonable but i cant understand why u cant just change the pads? can someone shed some light on this?

thanks,

Bobby

I just did on my wife's car and didn't even turn them. You can, as long as they are within spec.

2nd - and, dude, srsly, takes longer to yank wheels than does to change pads / rotors. Give a whirl.

A caliper won't work due to to a thick layer at the very edge of the rotor.

A local parts shop will probably measure them for you if you don't have the right tool.
