Default Brake light flashing under hard acceleration

Hi all, recently i've been getting the brake light switch almost everytime i go WOT from standstill or low speed (<20mph).

I searched the archives and found mostly references to the brake switch or the speed sensors.

I'll soon be bringing the car ('01 S8) to the dealer for that transmission cable recall, should I simply ask to "check/adjust the brake switch". Or is it something a layman (i did a TB job in 3 weeks...) can do himself?

Thanks for any advice!

Martin

Not an expert, but it sounds like wheel sensors could use some cleaning/adjusting.

Default Re: Check brake fluid level?

If you're on the minimum mark and it goes unlevel in hard acceleration, the sensor might fire.

Not up on my S8 warning signals, but is that the same one as for the hydraulic boost system? In earlier V8s, if you are a little low there, that red warning light will go on in the same circumstance.

What light is going on? The red "brake" light that illuminates when pulling the parking brake?

Default Yes, it's the parking brake light

Checking the brake fluid level seems a good idea.

Default It's the parking brake light, not the brake pad symbole in the IC display

and the pads are fairly new.

Default I understand, its rhe brake fluid level indicator, if your pads are down, the piston in the caliper

is has to take up the space of the worn brake material. That is why the light COULD come on.Either way its a sealed system, if theres a leak you'll know it.
