A quick "alternator check" is with a Volt meter to any live circuit on the vehicle.
Connect the meter, read battery voltage (Should be around 12.7 V). Then start the engine, and read the voltage with alternator output (should be about 13.5-14 V)
If you want to perform a load check, with the engngine still running, turn on lights and heater fan (hit the defrost button) The voltage should remain higher than battery voltage (12.7V)
Other than than that, a visual check of the regulator carbon brush length is the only way to test the device without extensive electronics know-how.

alright did the check. I got 12.05v from the battery with the car off, then when I turned the car over I was getting 14.37v. So the alternator must be good. Im still going to check the voltage stabilizer and possibly think about buying a new battery.
