Default Coil-Overs

I see a number of you are running H&R coil-overs. Where's the best deal going on these?

Default Houston, we have a problem ...

Until recently, everyone's been pleased with H&R's on their A8's. Then for some unknown reason, H&R decided to use a much much stiffer front spring in their A8/S8 kit. The last three who tried H&R's were all so unhappy with the results that they either went back to the stock suspension or ordered the S8 suspension.

Here's three recent threads; be sure to read all the replies to the original posts. IMHO, H&R has screwed up big time. Those with the old kits report near balanced handling (which I have witnessed on track), but stiffening only the front spring will increase understeer :-(

Default Of the recent H&R converts, I believe that obhw has found that....

after a break in period the H&Rs on his A8 became much more civilized and balanced. I would ask him for his current opinion of the "new" H&Rs.

I still plan on installing the S8 springs and shocks when they get here next week. I will post the differences then.

Default I bought mine lightly used, and have never been unhappy with them.

Perhaps the fact that they were pre-broken-in is why.

Default Re: Houston, we have a problem ...

I purchased one of the last two or three sets that the tirerack had about 4 months ago I think.. So far I like them very much, but it sounds like they were of the older variety.

What about Spring/Shock combos? I am looking to lowever the front a tad bit more than the rear as it appears that the gap up front is about a half inch greater than in back.

Also, I found a 2002 A8L with 24k going for 35k. Decent deal?
