Default D2 vs. D3

My 2001 A8L was in for service last week. It is now on CPO warranty. I know there is a lot of dealer dissing on the forum BUT my dealer gave me a 2006 A8 to use. I had it a full week (part needed ordered, wrong one came, wait for correct one etc.)
It is very nice but it seemed "Smaller" to me in the front seat area and I kept bumping my head getting in. So I got out the trusty tape measure and took some measurements. Today I compared to my D2. Sure enough!!! This may not sound like much but you can "feel" it.
Because of the rounded top of the door opening, there is 2 inches less from the sill to the roof.
Also, the console closest to the dash is 2 inches wider and is still 1.5 wider at the rear end.
Thought you might find this interesting.
