did you have to drop the driver's side exhaust to get the ATF pan out? (oops, refer to post below)
There was some previous post on how ATF pan bolts may be removed by using a "shorter tool". Does anyone have any information on what tool (size, how short) I should get before I get the car up on the lift? thanks for the help!

Paul will probably come along and give the definitive answer.
I think a couple of the A8 tranny pan screws are blocked by the exhaust. I believe you can get to them using something like this:

Not sure what bit you'll need, on the A6 it was T27, which is somewhat oddball.
