Default for lifter noise the Porsche 928 guys like Riselone, then an oil change, then 5w40 synthetic

I suppose 15w-50 would be OK if it's warm enough but I would not run it in the winter.

Lifter noise? Hydraulic lifters and an oil change always quieted the noise. Use Mobil 1 religously and BG K44

Default Oil additive, probably Wal Mart or any auto parts store

It just cleans out the gunk. There are other produtcs (B12 Chemtool, etc.) they are generally a solvent you add to the oil in hopes of dissolving gunk. I had a ticky lifter on one of m P-cars once after a HG change but thankfully it went away after 100 miles or so, before I had to get serious. This was good news as I am not a fan of solvents and detergents dumped into my motors (over and above what's already in the oil) but the 928 guys do not seem to have trouble with Riselone.

If you are changing the oil anyway it might be worth a try.

Costco? You don't need a 12 pack :-) I doubt they have it. Try an auto parts store.
