You can tell that there is a big difference from before and after.

Those wheels are a really good update for the D2, particularly on darker cars.

The S4 wheels are also nice (photoshop):

Well.....
I made two changes. I added the eibachs SHORTLY after adding 18" Wheels with some really wide tires. It made a huge difference in cornering. Then I added the eibachs and found an even better improvement in body roll. Not HUGE but noticable.
The ride did not suffer at all in my opinion, but one of my front springs was on it's way out and finally broke - leading to the eibach replacement. I have NO ride complaints and put 17k a year on the car on every type of road imaginable. No complaints from passengers either.
Now that the stock wheels/tires are on for the winter I can tell you that my view is a little biased. I can't wait to get the 18"s back on. Ride is actually a little softer right now and cornering is surely suffering.
IMHO - it's worth the money to upgrade and keep ride quality.
OH and most? importantly - it gives the car a nicer look. Stronger maybe? Meaner? One way or the other - I like it.
good luck

I have a 98 A8 with eibach/bilstein and 18 inch wheels, and I love it.
The reason I asked is that I have another 99 A8 with stock setup and 19 D3 wheels on, and it's too soft for me. I have a box of new Eibach springs in the garage but no bilsteins to go with them. So I've not putt them on because I'm waiting to find some bilsteins on sale.
I'm worried about the the "rebound" with Eibach springs being to stiff for stock struts?!
But from what you're saying, it sounds like it works.

thanks for the pics and info
I am going to do the eibachs on the stock setup but i wanted to see if the wheel well filled in any better. My rims look like they are 16's or barely 17's as is. I think some 19's would do well enough because i have been in cars with wheels that are too big for the well but are still recommended and there is some horrible grinding when a bump or hard turn is taken.(I dont like that)

My 99 has 18" VW Phaeton wheels, Eibachs and Bilstein Sports. It's night and day over stock. Handles better, feels more "German" and is amazingly smooth @60-100mph on the highway.
