Does the DSP or programming impact the "4,3,2" positions? How do clear DSP??

I think my transmission hates me. I've been very happy driving in the "3" setting for the past few days. Now, all of a sudden, the transmission sometimes stays in "3" for most of the time I'm driving. It will kick down, but it used to be a much smoother ride.
I'm wondering if the car has figured out that I'm not driving in "D" and wants me to drive that way anyway.
Is there any way to clear the DSP history?

Basic settings using Vag com or dissconnect battery for 20 mins
Yes DSP learns how you drive and recoding may improve.
You will need Vagcom for this however.
If you drive around town for a while then suddenly have a burst of spirited driving it can take a while to adapt-can be a real nuisance.
