Drove a 2003 E55 AMG today....
...it was a beautiful Silver and black E55, 470hp, every option but Nav. Very nice car, $50k price CPO.
But...it was not mind blowing. Compared to my A8 it was very fast and tight, but felt a lot smaller and as heavy. Maybe it is. It's slower than my 911 Turbo, and felt a lot slower and more isolated. I'm going to save my $50k.
Since S8's are going for $10-$15k less than the E55 AMG I think I'll go back to finding the right '03 S8 and spend $35k. If only there were an Audi RS6 locally to drive to see if spending $45-$50k o a used car is worth it.
