Default A few pictures from all of the driving I did in the past three days

Okay, so I return from Spain....Monday drive about 120 miles to and from a customer's....no problem....

Tuesday I drive out to the Mississippi from Chicago and back, about 290 miles total....get a call from a plant in Cedar Rapids Iowa that morning and want to meet with me on Wednesday....

So I drive all the way back to where I was again on Wednesday and then to Cedar Rapids....and back home again by 4:15....about 480 miles....during the meeting I couldn't even focus on a piece of paper due to my highway hypnosis....

Remember when I got my ticket? I didn't have my radar detector out because my lighter socket was dead....then I checked the fuse and it had blown....so this time I had it! Smart me...some day I'll hard wire it.

Hi, I notice from your pics, that you have concrete roads. In the UK, I have found that they make one hell of a noise at high speed.
It does not seem to matter what car I have - concrete roads are awful.
We are getting new roads and re-surfaced roads in special sound reducing tarmac. Makes a big difference in sound - no more booming effect. The car (A8 1997 Sport Quattro), sounds like an electric train when I am on that, as at 80/85 mph, just over 2500rpm! Near silence.
That is with the 245/45/18 Pirelli P6000 tyres.

Regards

In the U.S., they ususally use concrete as the base for interstate highways.....it lasts forever and can handle the pounding of a truck.

Once it starts to crack and gets unever, usually about 5 years or more.....then they patch it and go over it with ashphalt....

All in all, when concrete highways are new, they are very smooth and relatively quiet....when they are old you are right. When they are paved over, they are smooth again.

Default Yep...talk about bad Interstates...I-40 west of Memphis

I have to make that trip this summer. They have been repaving though for over 5 years, maybe I'll be lucky. I can make the Atlanta-Tulsa trip of about 860 miles in about 12 hrs. The wife and daughter fly on buddy passes and I'm left to drive me and two dogs.

Default What type of radar detector is that?

It's not a V1 is it? Are V-1's this boxy looking?
