So I was planning on converting my 2001 D2 S8 to power folding mirrors and purchased one mirror to mess around with, a switch that had the power folding position and the relay. I hadn't done anything with it for a couple months but yesterday I decided to install the switch to make sure all other functions work and guess what.........my passenger mirror folded in when I put it to the fold position. I couldn't believe it!! I now need to find out how to get my drivers one to fold but I thought that this makes it much easier as all of the logic is already there. Next I want to see if I plug in a mirror with the fold function into my drivers wiring if I get lucky again.

I thought all the S8's had power folding mirrors? They're not part of any optional package (to my knowledge), so wouldn't they be standard equipment? Mine's an '02 though, maybe '01 was different.

Hey that's great news. I'd love this option my 2001 S8. Where is a good place to buy the switch?

S8ilver: I believe it was only available on 02-03, not the 01. However clearly they were thinking about it and came close to implementing in 01.

Mine came with the folding mirror standard. Great for narrow parking spots in Hong Kong.

I sourced my switch on eBay by using the global search. Search Google for " search all eBay" or something and there is an eBay site that searches globally. June came from the uk.

AaronKneeland: Thanks for the eBay info. Just to confirm; the original passenger mirror folded, or did you install a folding mirror also?

I did buy a power folding drivers mirror to test with but never installed it. The passenger mirror started folding with only the switch installed. One thing I noticed with this switch is that the mirror selection is bacwards, when I select (L) the right mirror adjusts and visa-versa.
