Germany trip
I'm going to Europe on an extended vacation in three weeks. I'll be there almost 2 months and I need some advice. I own a '00 A-8.
1. Where should I visit? I intend to see the Audi plant as well as a visit to MTM but does anybody have any other suggestions?
2. If I see anything I need for my car, can or should I buy it there? What are the pitfalls of mailing stuff home?
Bear in mind, I haven't been overseas since high school, a longer time than I care to admit. Any hints would be appreciated.

Re: Germany trip
You *must* rent a car and take a trip on the famous Nürburgring track! It is open to the public for driving. I guess you won't bring your own A8? You could rent a TT for instance!
Audi has several plants, the Ingolstadt main site is probably not the biggest one. You definately should visit the Audi pavillion at the Wolfsburg plant too. That is the plant where the A8 is buildt.
Other things to see and do if you are in the southern parts of Germany is the alps and the mountain passes. You can visit great places in Germany, Austria, France, Switzerland and Italy during a short week. Too much to tell, you better get some guides. There are som many beautiful and interessting places to visit in this part of europe.
Depending on the time you go, there will probably be several car festivals to visit too. Check out Sven's page for a list of festivals and meetings:

If you happen to be in the northern parts of Germany, Scandinavia is just an overnight ferry-trip away. (From Kiel to Oslo and Gothenborg) Great trip with large, full featured ferrys (well, cruise-ferrys is probably the right word) to some of the most beautiful sceneries in europe. If you do go, please visit!

Re: Germany trip
Hello!
A nice idea to visit Germany. Kjell is right! You have to visit the Nürburgring!
The A8 is build in Neckarsulm, it's near Stuttgart! You can also visit this place.
Kjell told you to look on my www.a8000.de-page for some meetings. But this is the old site. You better look at my new site http://www.vw-audi-dreams.com !
There are the dates for the year 2001. You have to look under 'AUTOSCENE' and 'VW+Audi-Treffen'!
The biggest car-festival (especially for VW and Audi) is in Austria from the 19th to 27th of May! When you have a chance to go to it, you have to do it! It's great. Last year there were 80.000 people!!!
When you need more informations about some events or Germany in generell please contact me by email!

Of course, A8 is buildt at Neckarsulm...
My mistake, got confused by the Audi pavillion in Wolfsburg.
What about Wolfsburg, only VW produced there, or Audis too?
