Default Got the parts today for the trans output seal repair.

The seal was $21, the dealer wanted $30 for new exhaust clamps, so I just got them. It will be nice insurance in case I need to become a artist with the sawzaw.

Wish me luck, I will take some pics of it up on the lift.

Default The exhaust is very clean. I doubt you would need to cut it. Once the clamps are loose,

the whole thing slides backwards. The flange bolts on the cats and the clamp bolts maybe bad, but thats about all the drama you should have with the exhaust.

The rear section of the drive shaft is a little bugger to get off. If you have to remove it, once all the bolts are off, I had to really use some force to get it off. The gasket kinda glues it to the output flange.

Default I was afraid the clamps would be hard to remove. Is there a gasket on the flange area?

The procedure does not show anything. I see 6 bolts holding the front of the driveshaft to the output flange of the transmission.

Default Yeah, it will be all crusted on the flange. You gotta scrape it off and clean it all up, then

repack the CV joint.

2nd. There are indents for each bolt hole. The new one should have an adhesive to stick it on.

The procedure says to reuse the front CV joint gasket, is this possible?

Default yes, it should be fine. It's just a foam gasket designed to keep the grease from leaking out

you could make one in a pinch if you had to but I wouldn't worry about it.

I would make sure to note the condition. Mine was deteriorated pretty badly.
