Gotta do the trans finally
The pump is whining, pressure is low (hunting, thump at stop, you name it), and it is time to face reality. Since I am heading out west on a two day trip, I will be dropping it off at the same trans shop where I had my 5KTQ done in 1993.
Same folks are still there, and I got 100K miles out of their last rebuild before I sold the car. Estimate $2100 includes new TQ, clutches, output seals and sundry other fun stuff. They just finished another A8 (2000) that lost reverse.
I don;t want to wait for hard parts to fail, so I am heading in a bit earlier than I wanted to at 82K miles. I will report back with the name of the shop IF they do a good job and satisfy me 100%.
Then its on to control arms (DIY), then cosmetics, then bankruptcy.
