heated seats
I can't remeber the last time I used the heated seats. I warmed my tush fine this weekend but my wife said hers didn't get warm. I turned all seats on 6 and mine was the only one to warm up. Thinking I was smart I checked all fuse (larger amperage first) not one appeared to be blown, do the seats have circuit breakers that my have tripped and not reset? any direction is appreciated.

Re: heated seats
I have expereinced he luxury of a warm toosh here on a cold winter morning in MA(USA). I believe that there is a sensor that will not activate the heater unless the heater is on AND there is sufficient weight on the seat. For me there is no problem (less than there actually should be), however a lighter person (or no seated occupant) might not trigger the heater.

Re: heated seats
the passanger seat and the rear seats use a seat occupant sensors.the only seat that doesn't use it is the drivers.for the seat heaters to activate on the passengers/rear seats this switch has to make contact.is the airbag lamp on?if the right front occupant sensor is bad,it should set a light.did the seatback warm and the bottom stay cool?if the airbag lamp is off, other possibilities are, faulty switch, faulty pads or loose connections----dpd

Re: heated seats
I'll check the rears by sitting in them with the engine on and the heat on. The passenger seat has had an individual sitting in it that would tigger the sensor if functioning properly. I don't have any warning lights that stay on after the engine starts so I don't think that is the issue with the passenger seat. But the no weight could be the solution in the rear.

Re: heated seats
if the fuse is ok[10 amp fuse in the brown colored fuse carrier in the right front kick panel].only possibilities are bad switch or pad[s],maybe bad connection, does the seatback heat up?if so i would tend to tnink the bottom pad is bad.if neither is heting i would tend to think switch---dpd

Re: heated seats
That's interesting, about having to have an occupant in the seat to activate the "seat heater", I've been known to roll the passenger seat heater button up to SIX and set my daughters fast food bag on the seat to keep it WARM ( and it really keeps it toasty ). So, I wonder what is supposed to be the proper way for the seat heaters to work.

Re: heated seats
That's the bad part. Because mine too heats the seats w/o occupants. If someone turns the heaters on... they stay on unless I notice the dials for them.
I wonder if the occupancy sensors are 2000+ features?

Re: heated seats
occupant sensors have been in an a8 since 97.have the rear seat sensors checked, they may be shorted.the only seat that doesn't use one is the drivers seat.to check the rears, you have to lift up the seat bottom.---------dpd
