Default Hello everyone

Hi, just got a 97 A8. I've been perusing your forum for the last two weeks and finally got around to registering. A few questions: Where can I get some LB/HB bulbs for the triple halogen that actually look like HID colors. I realize that the real conversion is the ticket, but 1600 bucks isn't in my budget after my 19"rs6 wheels....or how about a conversion kit offered on ebay for like 400 bucks? How well does the H and R springs help the body roll? My other car is a 300zx and its a world of difference with the body roll. I was traveling at 80mph on the freeway when the pickup truck in front of my dropped a fridge off the back! I had to do some emergency manuevers and I had to correct the car twice back and forth!
This has concreted my decision for suspension mods. Thanks for reading my long first post!

Default Did you save the fridge? That would be a nice mod

for your backseat!

Default Re: Hello everyone

FIrst of all, congrats on the purchase. How many miles? What color? Any options?
I have 97 A8 as well and I have purchased McCullch 12k HID(Purple hue) for 349 including shipping. Night and day difference! Love the color and light output. Invest a little more and get the real HID kit. Those color coated bulbs are not even close to real HID. Also, look for the German made(Hella, Philips, Osram), NOT no brand HID kit.
I would be interested in hearing about the H&R also. I am planning on doing that as well soon.
Good luck!

Default Congrats on the A8!!

I have been looking at the Xenon Depot, www.xenondepot.com, to get Xenon bulbs for my SL, they have kits from $400 to $600. H&Rs will definetely help with body roll and the car looks great as well. Enjoy your car.

Default The H&R coliovers are definitely the way to go to reduce body roll....

and really liven up the handling of this marvelous car. I've had the H&Rs installed for quite a while now (close to 2 years?) and I have NO wish to go back to stock. These cars have incredibly stiff bodies and high-end suspension setups. With the proper springs and dampers these are great sports cars!
As for the headlights- I wouldn't waste my money on colored halogen bulbs- I'd save it for the real thing- HID! Go with a good European made system (Phillips or Hella). If you are patient, you should be able to find a kit for less than $450 on ebay. And WELCOME!

Default The W12 will have available an optional fridge.

Maybe it will fit a D2.

Default Any good Audi shop can install.

Usually about 4-5 hours labor, IIRC.

If you're into DIY, we can dredge up enough how-to posts to get you though it.

I found a lightly-used set here; I think tirerack.com carries them.

I love mine.
