I went to open the hood today. I pulled the release out and felt it let go, then pulled the tongue and nothing. I'll tried yanking on the release and pulling very hard on the tongue but I can't get it to release. Any suggestions?

Do you think it released at the lever in the car or under the hood?

That may knock it loose. Other wise close the hood, pull the lever in the cockpit and try again...

I think it might be at the tongue. I can feel the hood releasing when I pull the lever. The tongue seems to not come out as much as before, but I don't really remember how much it did before. When I pop the hood I can still press down on it and hear it click back. However the hood does not open.

I can't really remember but does the hood become ajar when the lever is pulled? It seems that the hood is locked in just as tight as before I popped it.

Try having someone lift up on the hood while you pull the hood release lever inside the cabin. What happens is that the alignment goes out and the tongue doesn't come out all the way. Good luck. HTH.

After you pull the lever the hood needs to be lifted a bit to make the tongue pop out.

At least you won't have to change the engine oil anymore....think about it, it's probably a lifetime fluid!

I think I'll go out and re-grease that itty-bitty cable again.
